A member of the Harrisburg School Board, Jaime Johnsen, 41, faces serious charges including kidnapping and burglary after an incident early Wednesday morning (April 29) in South Middleton Township, Pennsylvania. Authorities allege that Johnsen broke into her ex-girlfriend's apartment through a window, assaulted the ex's roommate, and took a four-month-old child from the residence.
According to the affidavit, the incident occurred around 3:44 a.m. on Letort Springs Way. The victim reported that she and her roommate were awakened by a noise and saw Johnsen entering through a first-floor window. Johnsen reportedly became upset, attacked the roommate by pushing and pulling his hair, and then fled through the same window.
WGAL reports that Johnsen had been watching the child the day before and was instructed not to leave the apartment. However, she allegedly took the child to her own home in Harrisburg, returning the child only after speaking with the victim.
Police have charged Johnsen with burglary, interference with the custody of a child, criminal trespassing, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief, harassment, and disorderly conduct. A warrant was issued for her arrest, and she is currently being held at Cumberland County Prison, unable to post bail.
The Harrisburg School District acknowledged the incident, stating they were recently made aware of the charges and will refrain from commenting until the legal process concludes. Johnsen, who was re-elected to the school board in 2025, has denied the allegations, claiming she is being falsely accused.
Johnsen's preliminary hearing is set for May 20. The case continues to develop, with more details expected to emerge as the investigation proceeds.
