A historic railroad bridge on Main Street in Seven Valleys, York County, Pennsylvania, will undergo repairs starting Monday (April 27). The bridge, known for its low clearance, has been frequently struck by oversized vehicles, with the latest incident occurring on March 3. The repair work, estimated to cost $74,000, will involve stripping the paint, straightening the outer girder, and replacing damaged signage.

According to York County Vice President Commissioner Scott Burford, part of Main Street will be closed during the repairs, with a detour in place via Route 616 and West Larue Road. The closure is expected to last about a week. Despite the construction, the Heritage Rail Trail will remain open for pedestrians.

The repairs will be carried out by Kinsley Construction and funded by a commercial carrier's insurance, as reported by York Daily Record. To prevent future incidents, an early warning system is expected to be installed later this year.

In addition to the Seven Valleys bridge, another bridge in York County on Stricklers School Road over Kreutz Creek in Hellam Township will close for replacement starting Monday, May 4. This project, costing $1.77 million, will last until mid-October, with traffic detoured via Route 462 and Cool Creek Road.
