A fire broke out at the Lebanon Maennerchor Club in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, late Saturday night (April 18), causing significant damage and leading to the bar's indefinite closure. Firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of East Mifflin Street shortly before 1 a.m. and upgraded the call to a second alarm upon arrival.
The fire severely affected the main bar area of the 111-year-old social club, which is known for its modern amenities, including 11 TVs, a pool table, and dart boards. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the building has been condemned, according to a notice from the Department of Public Safety.
The club announced its closure on social media, stating, "We will be permanently closed until further notice," due to the extensive fire and water damage. The Lebanon Maennerchor Club's Facebook page described the club as having a "modern feel" and being a hub for local social activities.
The fire's impact on the community is substantial, as the club has been a staple in the area for over a century. The investigation into the fire's cause is ongoing, and the club's future remains uncertain as it assesses the damage and considers next steps. For more details, visit LebTown and ABC27.
