Two men are facing charges following a traffic stop that escalated into a confrontation in East Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on Thursday (April 16). According to police, Michael Esh, 25, was pulled over in the Turkey Hill parking lot on Toddy Drive due to an active arrest warrant. During the stop, Esh reportedly fought with an officer, causing minor injuries and breaking a patrol car window. Good Samaritans assisted police in detaining him.
Esh is charged with aggravated assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, institutional vandalism, and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Police suspected Esh was under the influence at the time of the arrest.
The passenger, Andrew Riehl, 24, of Ephrata, fled the scene on foot but was later caught by officers. Riehl also had a bench warrant from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office. He is charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
