Police in Hanover, Pennsylvania, are investigating after human remains were discovered in a wooded area near an industrial park on East Middle Street. The Hanover Borough Police Department received a report early Thursday morning (April 16) and confirmed the remains were in a state of decomposition.

The York County Coroner's Office, led by Coroner Tania Zech, has confirmed the discovery but has not scheduled an autopsy, stating that further investigation is required. The identity, manner, and cause of death remain unknown. The coroner's office assured the public that there is no concern for community safety at this time.

The area where the remains were found includes several factories and overgrown railroad tracks. Police had closed off a portion of a parking lot during their investigation but have since reopened it. The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from various local law enforcement agencies, including the York County District Attorney’s Office and the York County Forensic Investigative Unit.

Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the Hanover Borough Police Department at 717-637-5575 or call 911. Updates will be provided as more details become available.
