A former employee of Armstrong World Industries, Renae Poole, is accused of embezzling over $154,000 from the company, according to the Manor Township Police Department. The alleged theft was discovered on February 26 when a manager flagged suspicious purchasing activity on company credit cards, which are intended for work-related expenses only.
Poole, 50, of Wrightsville, Pennsylvania, reportedly used the company card for personal purchases from businesses like Perfectgift.com, Amazon, Sam's Club, Giant, and Uber between November 2024 and February 2026. The unauthorized purchases totaled $154,513.16, as detailed in court documents.
On March 30, Poole admitted to using the company card for personal expenses during an interview with investigators at the police station. She has been charged with theft by unlawful taking. According to WGAL, Poole was employed as a software asset specialist at Armstrong World Industries for 25 years until her departure in February.
Manor Township Police Chief Colin Cleary confirmed that Poole is currently not in custody and is awaiting a preliminary hearing. During this hearing, prosecutors must present sufficient evidence to proceed with the case at the county court level. LancasterOnline reported that Poole's phone number is no longer in service, and her attorney has not yet commented on the case.
The case highlights the importance of monitoring company credit card usage to prevent unauthorized spending. Armstrong World Industries spokesperson Theresa Womble confirmed that Poole is no longer employed by the company.
