Man Sentenced On Felony Gun, Drug Charges

A Harrisburg man, Bernard Johnson, 48, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple drug and firearms charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced the sentencing on Tuesday (April 15).

Johnson's charges stem from two separate incidents nearly a decade ago. In November 2017, police responded to a burglary report at Johnson's apartment, where they discovered cocaine, crack cocaine, and a firearm. Later, in August 2018, Johnson was involved in another incident where he allegedly pointed a gun at someone in Susquehanna Township. This led to a car chase through Harrisburg, during which Johnson discarded a handgun with a silencer from his vehicle.

Johnson pleaded guilty in July 2025 to three counts of drug trafficking and two counts of possessing firearms as a felon. U.S. District Judge Jennifer Wilson delivered the sentence, which reflects the severity of the offenses. According to ABC27, Johnson was initially released pending trial for the 2017 incident but was later arrested following the 2018 car chase.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to tackle drug trafficking and gun violence in the region. As reported by FOX43, Johnson's actions posed significant risks to public safety, leading to the lengthy prison sentence.
