An investigation is underway in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, after a woman's body was discovered in a home purchased at a sheriff's sale on Tuesday (April 14). The property, located on the 300 block of Timber Lane in South Londonderry Township, was sold following a court-ordered foreclosure. The deceased woman has not yet been identified.
The Lebanon County Coroner's Office responded to the scene after a well-being check by the South Londonderry Township Police Department. The coroner's office confirmed that the woman's cause and manner of death are currently under investigation, with an autopsy scheduled for Thursday (April 16). According to WGAL, the home was previously owned by Sharlene Bence, also known as Sharlene Mikula, who defaulted on her mortgage in April 2023.
In Pennsylvania, sheriff's sales are public auctions of properties following foreclosure. Buyers typically cannot view the interior of these homes before purchase, as the previous owners may still occupy them until the deed is filed. The new owner discovered the body after noticing a foul odor and alerted authorities.
The Lebanon County Coroner's Office has not released further details pending notification of the woman's next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
