A Pennsylvania State Police Corporal, Stephen Kamnik, pleaded guilty to using work computers to create AI-generated pornography, as announced by Attorney General Dave Sunday on Wednesday (April 8). Kamnik, 39, admitted to 15 charges, including nine felonies, for secretly filming women and using AI software to alter images into pornographic content. Among the victims was a district judge, whom Kamnik filmed without consent.
Kamnik's actions, which spanned several years, involved using state-owned computers and databases to collect images and create pornographic material. He also accessed the state's driver's license system and filmed women in locker rooms at the Montgomery County barracks. According to Fox 29, Kamnik also possessed child sexual abuse material and entered women's locker rooms to take photos.
The investigation began after unusual bandwidth usage was detected on Kamnik's state computer. Authorities discovered over 10,000 images of adult pornography and evidence of Kamnik's misuse of state resources. He also used a secured database, JNET, to obtain hundreds of photos of women.
Kamnik, who has been on unpaid leave since the investigation began, will be sentenced on July 8. The charges include unlawful use of a computer, invasion of privacy, and official oppression. The Attorney General's Office stated that Kamnik's actions have tarnished the reputation of law enforcement in Pennsylvania.
Both the prosecution and defense declined to comment on the case. Kamnik's guilty plea includes an agreement to undergo an evaluation before sentencing, as reported by NBC Philadelphia.
