Former Gettysburg Mayor Chad-Alan Carr has been arrested in Texas on new charges of sexual assault after three additional victims came forward. According to the charging documents, these allegations follow Carr's initial arrest last month, which led to his resignation just three months into his term as mayor.
The new charges include two counts of sexual assault, one count of soliciting explicit images from a minor, and two counts of corruption of minors. The allegations stem from incidents dating back to 2010. One victim reported being assaulted by Carr after being groomed while participating in the Gettysburg Community Theater. Another victim, who met Carr on the app Grindr, reported being assaulted at Carr's home when he was 16 years old.
The Adams County Sheriff's Office coordinated with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office in Texas to arrest Carr. Sheriff Joshua Fitting praised the quick cooperation and professionalism of the Warrant Apprehension Unit in locating Carr.
Carr, who had previously served as the executive director of the Gettysburg Community Theater and president of Gettysburg Pride, stepped down from these roles in March before charges were filed. He posted $100,000 bail for the initial charges and is scheduled for arraignment on April 16.
The Eichelberger Performing Arts Center is aware of the ongoing investigation, with Executive Director David Adler stating they will cooperate fully and review their child protection policies.
