A deadly wrong-way crash in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, has left one man dead and another person hospitalized after a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic on Highway 522 Monday night.
According to Pennsylvania State Police in Lewistown, the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on Monday (March 9) in the area of 5142 US Highway 522 in Decatur Township. A Toyota was traveling south on the highway when it crossed the center lane and entered the northbound lane of travel. An oncoming motorcycle was unable to avoid the collision and was struck by the Toyota.
The motorcycle driver, Jeremy Rhodes, 46, of Beaver Springs, Pennsylvania, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained major injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Toyota was also taken to the hospital, though troopers say that person sustained only minor injuries.
State Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional details about potential charges or the identity of the Toyota's driver have been released at this time.
