Harrisburg Man Jailed After Break-In Triggers Gas Leak Evacuation

A Harrisburg man is behind bars after an apartment break-in he allegedly caused triggered a dangerous gas leak and forced an entire building to evacuate in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County.

Terron Shadi Doswell Jr., 27, is accused of breaking into a residence on the 200 block of North Arlington Avenue on Tuesday (February 25), damaging property, and sending threatening videos and text messages to the victim. According to the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police, officers who responded to the active burglary found signs of forced entry and detected a strong odor of gas coming from inside the apartment.

The building was immediately evacuated, and firefighters from the Lower Paxton Bureau of Fire were called to shut off the gas line. The Dauphin County Crisis Response Team was also activated to help clear the residence. A search of the apartment revealed that Doswell had already fled the scene before officers arrived.

An arrest warrant was issued following the incident. As reported by ABC27, Doswell was located and taken into custody in Hummelstown on Friday (March 6) — more than a week after the initial break-in.

His preliminary arraignment was held before Magisterial District Judge Wenner at the Dauphin County Booking Center that same day. According to Local 21 News, bail was set at $250,000, and Doswell is currently being held at Dauphin County Prison.

Doswell faces multiple charges, including burglary, risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief, and recklessly endangering another person. His case is expected to move forward through the Dauphin County court system in the coming weeks.
