Woman Charged With Attempted Homicide After Stabbing Man In Head

A 37-year-old woman faces serious charges after allegedly stabbing a man in the head in Carlisle, Pennsylvania on Wednesday (February 18).

Shannon Kerns has been charged with attempted homicide and two counts of aggravated assault following the incident that occurred shortly before 3 p.m. in the 100 block of Lincoln Street, according to Carlisle police.

Emergency medical services treated the male victim at the scene for what authorities described as non-life-threatening injuries, CBS 21 that the man was stabbed in the head but is expected to recover.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 2:54 p.m. and quickly took Kerns into custody. In addition to attempted homicide and aggravated assault, Kerns has also been charged with possessing instruments of a crime, according to Lt. Joshua Bucher with the Carlisle Police Department.

Authorities have assured the public there is no ongoing threat related to this incident. The area around Lincoln Street was temporarily blocked off with police tape during the initial investigation, but the scene has since been cleared.

A criminal docket for Kerns was not immediately available at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing, with multiple local news outlets describing it as a developing story.
