A 2-year-old girl has died after falling from a tractor and being run over in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, officials confirmed.

The tragic incident occurred Saturday morning (February 8) in Upper Leacock Township. According to East Lampeter Township Police, a man was driving the tractor northbound on Newport Road when the young girl fell off and was struck by one of the vehicle's rear tires.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the 300 block of Newport Road at approximately 8:42 a.m. Despite efforts from EMS, fire crews, and police to render aid, the child died from her injuries at the scene.

"The Lancaster County Coroner's Office retained custody of the child's body," the East Lampeter Township Police Department stated in a press release issued Monday. Authorities have not released the identities of either the child or the adult male operating the tractor.

This incident marks the latest in a series of tragic farm equipment accidents involving children in Lancaster County. According to Lancaster Farming, a young girl was killed in a forklift accident in Leola in March 2025, and a 6-year-old boy died in a skid steer incident in Paradise Township in August of the same year.

The East Lampeter Township Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Saturday's incident.
