>>Massive Fire At Juniata County Pallet Company

A massive fire broke out at Treen Box and Pallet Inc. in Walker Township, Juniata County, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday (January 20). The blaze, which reached four-alarm status, started around 7 p.m. and was contained after about two hours. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

The fire occurred in a rural area on Center Road, where there are no fire hydrants. Firefighters had to pull water from the Juniata River to combat the flames. Thompsontown Volunteer Fire Company Deputy Chief Jeff Miller noted the challenges faced due to the freezing conditions. "It's very, very tough to stop a fire of this magnitude," Miller said. "Quite honestly, conditions are horrible. We're looking at about eight degrees right now."

The freezing temperatures not only affected the firefighters but also caused the fire trucks to freeze up. Despite these difficulties, crews managed to control the fire. However, officials expect to remain on the scene for several days to ensure the area is safe. Residents are advised to be cautious as the roads may be icy from the water used to extinguish the fire.
