11-Year-Old Charged with Homicide in Perry County

An 11-year-old boy, Clayton W. Dietz, has been charged with criminal homicide following a fatal shooting in Duncannon, Pennsylvania, early Tuesday morning (January 14). The incident occurred at a home on the first block of South Market Street, where authorities found 42-year-old Douglas Dietz dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

According to CBS 21, the juvenile suspect was taken into custody without incident and was denied bail after being arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Richard Gibney. The Perry County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, but emphasized that there is no threat to the public.

The shooting was reported around 3 a.m., and court records indicate that the incident occurred on the child's birthday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 22.

Authorities have not released further details about the suspect due to his status as a juvenile. The Perry County District Attorney's Office has urged anyone with information to contact the Pennsylvania State Police.
