Reading Parolee Arrested on Drug and Firearm Charges

A Reading man, Emil DeJesus-Cordova, is facing multiple charges after authorities discovered drugs and a firearm in his apartment. DeJesus-Cordova, 24, was arrested last Friday (January 8) after a parole officer found crack cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia on his dining table. According to Reading Eagle, he was charged with possessing and intending to deliver controlled substances and possessing a firearm while prohibited. A revolver was found in the trunk of one of his cars.

DeJesus-Cordova was wanted for a parole violation related to a 2023 incident where he fled from police in Muhlenberg Township. Recently, he was also charged with robbery after allegedly stealing an ex-girlfriend's cellphone on December 23. Following his arrest, DeJesus-Cordova was arraigned before District Judge Sandra L. Fegley and is currently held at Berks County Jail with a bail set at $300,000.

The arrest occurred at an apartment on Lorraine Road, where officers found DeJesus-Cordova handcuffed at the dining table. Alongside the drugs, a bucket containing pop-top vials and sandwich bags with marijuana and crack was discovered. Additionally, car keys led to the discovery of a replica airsoft gun and a revolver in his vehicles. Yahoo News reports that DeJesus-Cordova faces charges of possessing a firearm while prohibited, intending to deliver illegal narcotics, and possessing drug paraphernalia.
