Sandie Walker Sworn In as York Mayor

Sandie Walker officially took office as the Mayor of York, Pennsylvania, on Monday (January 5). The inauguration ceremony was held in the afternoon at the York Administrative Center. Walker ran unopposed in the election after former Mayor Michael Helfrich and Police Commissioner Michael Muldrow withdrew from the race.

Walker has expressed her commitment to keeping crime rates low and working with government agencies on immigration policies. During her campaign, she emphasized the importance of strong leadership and building community relationships to address crime in the city.

Walker stated, "I believe we have made leadway when it comes to that relationship. Unfortunately, we have had some recent homicides. I believe if we continue to work together, build relationships from there," she said.

As Walker begins her term, she joins other newly sworn-in mayors across Pennsylvania, including Wanda Williams in Harrisburg, Jaime Arroyo in Lancaster, and Sherry Capello in Lebanon, each with their own set of priorities and challenges.
