Middle School Student Charged With Attempted Homicide

A stabbing incident at Chambersburg Area Middle School South in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, left one student injured and another in custody on Monday (January 5). The attack occurred during the morning drop-off, marking the first day back for students following winter break. According to the Chambersburg Area School District, the injured student is responsive and receiving treatment.

The juvenile suspect has been charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault after consultation with the Franklin County District Attorney's Office, as reported by the Chambersburg police. The suspect's name has not been released.

Following the incident, the school implemented a temporary "shelter-in-place" protocol, but classes have since resumed. The Chambersburg Police Department assured that the school is secure and there is no ongoing risk to the facility. Additional counselors are on-site to support any affected students or staff.
