The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) reported a decrease in DUI arrests over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. From November 26 to November 30, troopers made 458 DUI arrests, which is nearly 80 fewer than the 537 arrests made during the same period in 2024. This decline is part of a broader trend of reduced traffic violations, including fewer speeding, child seat, and seat belt citations issued this year.

Despite the decrease in DUI arrests, PSP reported a slight increase in vehicle crashes. Troopers investigated 1,183 crashes, up from 1,167 last year, with six of these crashes resulting in fatalities. Additionally, 61 crashes were attributed to impaired driving. The number of injury-related crashes also rose to 184, compared to 164 in 2024.

The state has invested $15 million in traffic enforcement and hiring new PSP cadet classes as part of the 2025-2026 budget. This investment aims to enhance road safety and reduce traffic-related incidents across Pennsylvania.
