A tragic accident in Cornwall Borough, Pennsylvania, claimed the lives of a person and a dog on Friday night (November 21). The crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. on U.S. Route 322 near Mountain Drive, involving an SUV and a tanker truck. According to ABC27 News, the collision led to a significant fuel spill, with approximately 500 gallons of fuel leaking onto the road.
The highway remained closed past midnight as crews worked to clean up the spill and investigate the scene. The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been released, and the investigation is ongoing. PennDOT spokespersons confirmed the involvement of the tanker truck and SUV in the crash.
In addition to this incident, another crash occurred later that evening in Lebanon County. According to WGAL, the second crash took place around 8:30 p.m. in South Annville Township, sending three people to the hospital. Both accidents remain under investigation as authorities work to determine the causes.
