Voters in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, are heading to the polls on Tuesday (November 4) to elect a new mayor, along with other local officials and school board members. The mayoral race is a key focus, as incumbent Mayor Danene Sorace is not seeking re-election. The candidates vying for the position include Democrat Jaime Arroyo, Green Party candidate Tony Dastra, and Independent J.S. Woody Chandler.

Lancaster, Pennsylvania, will also decide whether to retain two county judges, Dennis E. Reinaker and Thomas B. Sponaugle, for another 10-year term. Both judges have received strong recommendations from the Lancaster Bar Association.

Judge Dennis E. Reinaker, who is 72, was first elected in 2005 and retained in 2015. He presides over criminal court and served as president judge from 2015 to 2019. The Lancaster Bar Association praised Reinaker for his strong legal knowledge and even-handedness, with members voting 100-21 in favor of his retention.

Judge Thomas B. Sponaugle, 60, was elected to the bench in 2015 and is facing his first retention vote. He presides over criminal, civil, and civil discovery motions courts. The Bar Association commended Sponaugle for his professionalism and fairness, with members voting 111-11 in favor of his retention.

In addition to the mayoral race, Lancaster voters are also deciding on school board members and other local offices. The election results will be closely watched, with polls closing at 8 p.m. As results come in, they will be tracked and reported.
