State online services in Pennsylvania are back online following a Microsoft Azure outage that disrupted access on Wednesday (October 29). The Department of Labor and Industry confirmed late last night that all Commonwealth websites are fully operational again. The outage, which affected Microsoft’s global content delivery network, also impacted Office 365, Minecraft, and Starbucks, among others.
According to WND, the outage was due to issues with Microsoft's Azure Front Door service, which is a global content and application delivery network. Microsoft acknowledged the problem on its Azure status page and social media accounts, stating that they were investigating the issue.
The fix is currently being rolled out to restore full functionality.
The outage affected numerous services worldwide, including Alaska Airlines, which reported disruptions in their systems, including check-in services. The timing of the outage was particularly challenging for Microsoft, as it occurred just hours before the release of their quarterly earnings report.
