Man Dies After Harrisburg Carjacking Shooting

A carjacking incident in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has turned fatal as 31-year-old Corey Hartz succumbed to his injuries over the weekend. Hartz was shot in the head last Monday (October 20) during a carjacking outside a cigarette shop on Market Street. According to Dauphin County officials, the suspect, Javar Geter, allegedly entered Hartz's vehicle and shot him after Hartz refused to give him a ride.

Geter, who is also accused of killing 18-year-old Rakeeb Watson just hours before the carjacking, is being held without bail in Dauphin County Prison. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Geter entering Hartz's car, shooting him, and then dragging him to the passenger seat to take control of the vehicle. Hartz was later found at UPMC Harrisburg, where he was treated before passing away.

Authorities have confirmed that Hartz and Geter did not know each other, suggesting the attack was random. Geter faces murder charges for the shooting of Watson, and the Dauphin County District Attorney’s office is expected to review and potentially add charges related to Hartz's death.

Local21 News reported that Geter is charged with murder and other offenses related to the shootings. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be filed as the case develops.
