Former Olympic boxer Kabary Salem has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his daughter, Ola Salem, in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. The 57-year-old, who represented Egypt in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, was found guilty of first-degree murder after a weeklong trial. Authorities reported that Salem beat his 25-year-old daughter to death in October 2019 before transporting her body to Staten Island, New York, where he abandoned it in a park.

According to Local21News, Salem had taken his daughter to Palmyra, Pennsylvania, to help paint a restaurant he co-owned. During this visit, he committed the murder. After the crime, Salem fled to Kuwait but was extradited back to the United States a year later to face charges.

Salem's conviction marks the end of a tragic case that shocked the community. His sentencing to life in prison ensures he will spend the rest of his days behind bars. The case highlights the serious consequences of domestic violence and the lengths to which justice systems will go to hold perpetrators accountable.
