Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced criminal charges against seven individuals for allegedly submitting falsified voter registration forms in Berks, Lancaster, and York Counties. The charges come after a thorough review of thousands of registration forms submitted before the 2024 general election.
According to lehighvalleylive.com, the individuals charged include six street canvassers and Guillermo Sainz, who directed a company's registration drive efforts in the state. The canvassers, identified as Amos Clay, Joseph Jameson, Anya McCurdy, Meghan McDevitt, Richard Perez, and Samantha Szukiewicz, face charges of unsworn falsification, tampering with public records, and forgery, among others. Szukiewicz also faces an additional charge of identity theft.
Attorney General Sunday stated that the motive behind the crimes was personal financial gain, not an attempt to influence the election for any specific party or candidate. He emphasized the importance of the role county election offices played in maintaining the integrity of the election process, noting their cooperation in the investigation.
The investigation, which remains ongoing, highlights the diligence of the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office and local voter registration offices. The Lancaster County District Attorney's Office expressed gratitude for the efforts of the Attorney General's Office and local detectives in uncovering the fraudulent activities.
