A Manheim Borough man, Brian Keith Rineer, faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting staff at UPMC Hospital in Warwick Township, Lancaster County. Police responded to the hospital on Sunday evening (October 12) after reports that Rineer, 56, was threatening and pushing staff members while being treated as a patient. According to the LancasterOnline, the incident led to a temporary lockdown of the emergency room.

The Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department reported that Rineer was highly intoxicated during the incident, pushing a nursing assistant multiple times and threatening to harm staff members. Hospital staff managed to restrain Rineer and lock him in a room for safety. While confined, he began punching a glass window and shouting, prompting the lockdown until police arrived and removed him from the premises.

Rineer was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He was released on $50,000 unsecured bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on October 31. The Local21News reported that Rineer did not have an attorney listed on his docket as of Tuesday.
