Injured State Trooper Released from Hospital

Trooper Lucas Amarose, one of the Pennsylvania State Troopers injured in a shooting last week, has been released from WellSpan York Hospital. Amarose was discharged on Monday (October 13) after five days of treatment. He and Trooper Thomas Pack were both wounded during a "fierce gunfight" following a police chase in Franklin County. Pack was released from the hospital the day after the incident.

The confrontation occurred after Amarose and Pack attempted to stop suspects involved in a retail theft at a Dick's Sporting Goods store. The suspects fled, leading to a high-speed chase along Interstate 81. The chase ended when police deployed spike strips to stop the suspects' van.

During the ensuing gunfight, the alleged shooter, Lamar Foy, was killed by police. Foy, along with Amir Swift and Giani Jaida McGowan, was accused of stealing over $1,000 worth of merchandise. Swift and McGowan, both from Baltimore, Maryland, were arrested and charged with retail theft and drug offenses.

According to ABC News, Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Christopher Paris praised the troopers' performance during the incident. He expressed gratitude that the situation did not result in more tragic outcomes.

The Franklin County District Attorney, Ian M. Brink, deemed the use of force by the officers as justified, citing Foy's actions as a significant threat. The incident is part of an ongoing investigation into a potential larger crime pattern.
