Cumberland County Mother Charged with Threatening Child

A mother from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, faces serious charges after allegedly threatening to kill her four-year-old son. According to police, 30-year-old Julissa Sierra-Rivera sent a video to the child's father over the summer, appearing to smother the boy with a pillow while saying, "I'll kill your son right now." The incident reportedly occurred during a phone argument in July.

Sierra-Rivera has been charged with attempted homicide, strangulation, and endangering the welfare of children. ABC27 reports that the boy woke up crying after a soft object was placed on his face. Sierra-Rivera later apologized to the father, stating she would seek anger management.

In September, Sierra-Rivera admitted to a Cumberland County Children and Youth Services worker that she recorded the video and made the threat. Police reviewed the footage, which showed a black object, possibly a pillow, pressed on the boy's head for about 10 to 12 seconds. Sierra-Rivera was released from Cumberland County Prison after posting a $25,000 bail. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 22.
