High School Basketball Star Joseph Williams Dies in Crash

A tragic accident claimed the life of 17-year-old Joseph Williams, a senior at Donegal High School, over the weekend. Williams died from multiple traumatic injuries following a rollover crash on Landis Road in East Donegal Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The Lancaster County Coroner's Office confirmed the cause of death as accidental.

Williams was a beloved member of the Donegal High School basketball team. The program remembered him for his infectious energy and joy. "Joey will always be a part of our team, and we will carry his spirit with us," the team shared in a statement. They expressed how much they will miss his presence, both on and off the court.

In response to the tragedy, Donegal School District Superintendent Greg Kiehl announced that district staff and the IU13 Crisis Team are providing support to students and staff affected by Williams' passing. "We will continue to have counselors and other staff available at school to help students cope with this loss," Kiehl stated.

The basketball team is set to begin its season next month, and they plan to honor Williams' memory throughout the year. Anyone who needs to talk can call 800-273-8255 no matter the time of day.
