Child Injured in Festival Crash Awakens from Coma

A six-year-old boy named Faiz Sharif, who was seriously injured in a crash at the Kipona Festival in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has emerged from a coma. Sharif was struck by a red minivan during the Labor Day festivities when the vehicle drove at high speed down a closed street, hitting three people. His injuries included a fractured pelvis, a lacerated spleen, and a broken jaw.

According to an update from Sharif's family, he has shown positive signs of recovery. His breathing tube has been removed, and he has opened his eyes, indicating basic awareness. Despite these improvements, Sharif remains in serious condition. His family expressed gratitude for the community's support, stating it has significantly impacted their journey.

The driver of the minivan, identified as Elizabeth Bohrer, was described by police as being "out of it" during the incident. Officers reported that she appeared disoriented and incoherent when questioned later. The crash remains under investigation.
