Kirk Tanner officially began his tenure as CEO of The Hershey Company on Monday (August 18), succeeding Michele Buck. Tanner, previously CEO of The Wendy's Company, was announced as Buck's successor last month. Hershey officials describe him as a "proven, high-impact leader" in the food and beverage industry.

Tanner brings a wealth of experience to Hershey, having spent over 30 years at PepsiCo, where he held various senior leadership roles, including CEO of PepsiCo Beverages North America. His leadership there was marked by growth and profitability through brand building and innovation. Tanner's appointment is part of Hershey's strategy to continue its global growth and innovation efforts.

According to The Hershey Company, Tanner is committed to advancing the company's ambition to be a leading snacking powerhouse. He stated, "Throughout my career, I've remained focused on understanding and delighting consumers, building strong partnerships with customers, and investing in colleagues."

Michele Buck, who announced her retirement earlier this year, will continue to work with Tanner in an advisory capacity until her full retirement in 2026. Buck's leadership saw Hershey transform into a multi-category snacking leader, and she expressed pride in the company's accomplishments during her tenure.

As reported by Yahoo Finance, Tanner's transition is expected to be smooth, with Buck assisting in the process. Tanner's focus will be on maintaining Hershey's strong market position while exploring new growth opportunities.
