Teenager Shot in Harrisburg; Investigation Ongoing

A 14-year-old boy was shot in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on Thursday (July 24) afternoon, leading to a significant police presence in the Camp Curtin neighborhood. The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Fifth Street and Woodbine Street. The teenager was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but his current condition has not been disclosed.

According to ABC27 News, officers from multiple police agencies, including Harrisburg Police, Susquehanna Township, Penbrook, Capitol Police, and the Dauphin County Sheriff's Office, responded to the scene. A K-9 unit was also deployed to sweep the area, and police tape cordoned off the intersection.

The investigation is ongoing, with no suspects or arrests announced yet. PennLive reported that officers in the vicinity heard the gunshots and were already providing aid to the boy when additional Harrisburg officers arrived. An evidence marker was spotted near a black BMW sedan at the scene.

Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams expressed her concern, stating, "My heart and prayers go out to the family of the young man." The community remains on edge as the investigation continues, with residents expressing their desire for more police engagement in the neighborhood.
