Child, 9, Dies At Hersheypark Boardwalk

A tragic incident occurred at Hersheypark's water park, The Boardwalk, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where a nine-year-old child died on Thursday (July 24). Lifeguards noticed the child in distress and immediately performed a rescue, followed by life-saving efforts from on-site first responders and medical personnel. Despite these efforts, the child was pronounced dead at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The cause of death remains unknown.

Hershey Entertainment & Resorts CEO John Lawn expressed deep condolences, stating, "Our hearts break for this child and the child's family." He emphasized the company's commitment to guest safety and announced an internal review, pledging full cooperation with authorities.

The Boardwalk, a popular attraction at Hersheypark, features 16 water attractions, including the "Whitecap Racer" and "The Shore," a large wave pool. The specific attraction involved in the incident was not disclosed, and the child's identity has been withheld to respect the family's privacy.

This marks only the second death linked to an attraction at the century-old park. The park's lifeguards undergo extensive training, including a 24-hour class and ongoing education.
