A 15-year-old from York, Pennsylvania, Zamire Murray, is facing charges of attempted homicide following a shooting incident that injured another teen. The shooting occurred on July 14 in the 700 block of West Poplar Street. According to court documents, Murray allegedly shot another 15-year-old boy in the shoulder. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The charges against Murray include attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and firearm violations. He will be charged as an adult. Police used surveillance video to identify Murray as the suspect. The footage showed a teen on a black electric scooter approaching the victim and two others on a porch. Murray allegedly pulled a handgun from his jacket and fired at the victim, hitting him once. He then allegedly fired at the others on the porch before fleeing the scene on his scooter.
Police tracked Murray's movements through additional security footage, leading them to a home on West Clarke Avenue. Further investigation linked Murray to another recent gunfire incident, strengthening the case against him. As of now, Murray has not been arrested or arraigned, and his preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
ABC27 reported that the investigation is ongoing, and police are continuing to gather evidence.
York Dispatch noted that no other individuals have been charged in connection with the incident.
