A protection from abuse order was filed against Dr. Musaddiq Nazeeri just days before he died in a plane crash in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Nazeeri, a family doctor in Lebanon County, was piloting a single-engine Piper PA-46 when it crashed shortly after takeoff from Lancaster Airport on Sunday (July 20). He was the only person on board.
According to CBS 21, Nazeeri's wife filed the order on Friday (July 18), alleging physical abuse and threats. The order, which was set for a hearing on July 25, required Nazeeri to leave their home and have no contact with his wife and their minor child.
The crash occurred around 8 a.m., with the plane going down in a cornfield near the airport. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the crash, examining the aircraft's structure and systems. The investigation could take up to 20 months to determine the cause.
Nazeeri's wife alleged years of abuse, including physical assaults and threats to her life. She claimed he hit her while she slept, resulting in injuries, and threatened her when she sought legal help. The protection order also mentioned abuse witnessed by their son.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and NTSB are working together on the investigation. The NTSB has requested any witnesses or those with relevant information to contact them. An autopsy is pending to determine Nazeeri's cause of death.
