A former student of Franklin & Marshall College, John James Riley, has pleaded guilty to secretly recording women undressing in a dorm bathroom. The York County resident admitted to hiding a camera in the shower area of a women's bathroom during the fall 2023 semester, capturing over 1,000 recordings of 19 women. Riley, 20, used the recordings for his own sexual gratification, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.
Riley pleaded guilty to 59 criminal charges, including 19 counts of intercepting communications, 19 counts of criminal use of a communication facility, and 19 counts of invasion of privacy. He also faced two counts of possession of an instrument of crime with intent. The camera was discovered by female students, who turned it over to campus security, leading to Riley's arrest.
Riley has been expelled from Franklin & Marshall College and is banned from the campus. He is currently free on $20,000 unsecured bail and plans to pursue an associate degree at a community college. Lancaster County Judge Dennis Reinaker will sentence Riley following a 90-day pre-sentence investigation, as reported by ABC27.
