Cedarville University has confirmed that one of its students, sophomore Judah White, was involved in a plane crash in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, last weekend. The small aircraft, piloted by Judah's father, Matthew White, crashed in the parking lot of a retirement community in Manheim Township on Sunday (March 9). Both Judah and his father remain in critical condition, receiving treatment for severe burns at Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Burn Recovery Center.
The plane, carrying five family members, encountered trouble shortly after takeoff from Lancaster Airport. According to Spectrum News, air traffic control audio captured the pilot reporting an open door, requesting to return for landing. Moments later, the plane crashed.
Matthew White, who owned and operated the plane, sustained critical injuries while rescuing his family from the wreckage. Two family members have been released from the hospital, but Judah and his father remain hospitalized. Cedarville University President Thomas White expressed gratitude for the survival of all passengers, stating, "We thank the Lord that, by God’s grace, all survived this accident."
This incident marks the third major accident involving Cedarville students this year, adding to the university's ongoing challenges. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation, labeling the crash an accident in its preliminary statement. Cedarville University has asked for prayers for Judah, his family, and all involved in the accident, hoping for their full recovery.
