Lancaster Man Charged with Impersonating Police Officer

A man from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, has been charged with impersonating a police officer and harassment. John Francis McCarty allegedly posed as a Quarryville police officer to intimidate and harass local residents. According to the Quarryville Borough Police Department, McCarty approached two officers on February 15 and made statements suggesting he was taking law enforcement actions, despite not being a sworn officer.

Investigations revealed that McCarty had similarly identified himself as a law enforcement officer to other residents in Quarryville and other jurisdictions. Authorities are urging anyone with information about McCarty's actions to contact the Quarryville Borough Police Department.

The charges against McCarty include impersonating a public servant and harassment. As the investigation continues, police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying any additional victims.
