Skeletal remains discovered over a decade ago in West Donegal Township, Lancaster County, have been identified as those of Mitchell L. Mendelson, a 60-year-old retired bus driver from Elizabethtown. The remains were found in November 2012, but it wasn't until late last year that genetic genealogy and DNA evidence led to Mendelson's identification.

The Lancaster County coroner had previously attempted to identify the remains through sketches and skeletal analysis. A scan of Mendelson's skull was circulated, which eventually resulted in a positive identification. Mendelson was known for his love of walking, cooking, and listening to music.

Despite identifying the remains, the cause and manner of Mendelson's death remain undetermined. The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover more details about his death.
