Pennsylvania State Police have announced that they have identified a woman whose body was found in a wooded area in Lebanon County over 50 years ago. The woman's decomposed remains were discovered under a plastic tarp and brush by two game wardens on October 10, 1973, near Moonshine Road in Union Township. Despite the passage of time, the woman's identity remained a mystery until now.
The woman, who was estimated to be between 16 and 20 years old at the time of her death, had long brown or blonde hair and was about 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin to average build. Over the years, investigators have used various methods to try to identify her, including releasing a 3D skull facial reconstruction and a bust based on her remains. However, no family members or friends came forward to identify her.
The woman's cause of death has not been determined due to the amount of time that had passed between her death and when she was found. State police estimated she had been dead for one or two weeks by the time the game wardens discovered her remains.
The woman's identity will be released at a press conference on November 21 at the Lebanon County Department of Emergency Services, according to WGAL and PennLive.
