Harrisburg Teen Accidentally Kills Father, Mistaking Him for Intruder

A tragic incident unfolded in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, when 18-year-old Tymarion Davenport shot and killed his father, Thomas Davenport, mistaking him for an intruder. The incident occurred on September 13 at their home on North 14th Street.

According to the charging documents, Tymarion was in his second-floor bedroom when he heard someone coming down the stairs from the third floor. Believing it to be an intruder, he grabbed a firearm and fired a shot at the person descending the stairs, who turned out to be his father.

Thomas Davenport, 38, was found by police with gunshot wounds to the head and chest on the first floor of the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS shortly after 5 p.m., as reported by Local 21 News.

Following the shooting, Tymarion was seen running from the home shirtless, with a phone in his hand. He was taken into custody on September 15 on separate charges. During a search of the home, police found cocaine, a scale, marijuana, and ammunition in Tymarion's bedroom.

Tymarion Davenport now faces charges including criminal homicide, carrying firearms without a license, manufacture, delivery or intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held in the Dauphin County Prison on a $500,000 bail.
