Puppy Mill Legislation Back At Pennsylvania Capitol
(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania lawmakers are once again talking about new rules for puppy mills. State Rep. Jeanne McNeill says the idea is to get pet shops across the state to work with shelters and rescue operations rather than puppy mills. The idea is not new, it was pitched last year and has languished in a statehouse committee. McNeill says since then, supporters have worked with towns like Allentown, Bethlehem, and the Forks Township area to pass local bans on puppy mill sales. Lawmakers have til July 1st of this year to get the proposal through the legislature.
