Maryland Man Who Killed Pennsylvania Teacher while High Sentenced

(Lancaster County, PA) -- A Maryland man has been sentenced to as many as 32 years in prison after killing a Pennsylvania teacher and seriously injuring her daughter in a car crash. Prosecutors say in a news release that Christopher Pineda-Gasca was driving high on marijuana and speeding at over 100 miles-per-hour at the time of the collision. He pleaded guilty to charges of third-degree murder and homicide by vehicle while DUI, among other counts. He was charged after a high-speed police pursuit that left 32-year-old Alicia Whisler of Mohnton dead and seriously injured her five-year-old daughter in April of last year. Whisler was a teacher in Morgantown. She is survived by her husband and another daughter.
