Seventh Defendant Found Guilty of Smuggling Cocaine from Puerto Rico

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The seventh and final member of a smuggling ring that ran drugs from Puerto Rico to Pennsylvania has been convicted. A news release by the U.S. Justice Department says Moniqua Ramirez has been found guilty of conspiracy to distribute cocaine in a three-day-trial that ended last week. Prosecutors say Ramirez and six other Puerto Ricans smuggled cocaine into Central Pennsylvania using the U.S. Postal Service. The defendants were arrested during a raid by the Lancaster County Drug Task Force over three years ago. All six of Ramirez's co-defendants pleaded guilty.
