Health Dept Appeals Ruling on Testing Procedures For Medical Marijuana

>State Health Department Appeals Ruling on Testing Procedures For Medical Marijuana

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Health is asking the state Supreme Court to overturn a lower-court ruling on testing procedures for medical marijuana products. Under the existing rules that have been in place since 2016, growers and processors can contract with a single lab to test medical cannabis after it is harvested and again after it is processed into a final product. The new rule, which had been slated to take effect this year, would have required different labs to conduct each test. The health department has argued that stricter checks and balances are needed to ensure product quality and that labs are not signing off on subpar products.
