(Wawayanda, NY) -- Tragedy for a Long Island High School, after a bus carrying members of the school's marching band crashed on an upstate highway Thursday afternoon. Governor Kathy Hochul says a tire problem may have caused the charter bus to roll down a highway embankment, killing two adults, and injuring dozens of students. It happened around 1 p.m. on I-84 in Orange County, about 45-miles northwest of the city. A bus that was carrying the Farmingdale Long Island marching band to band camp in Pennsylvania - rolled down the embankment. Two adults are dead - including the band's director, Gina Pellettiere. Beatrice Ferarri of Farmingdale was also killed. Twenty-eight of the bus's 44-passengers, most of them freshman, were hospitalized. It was one of six buses carrying the band.
