Mall Developers Ask Township Officials to Rezone Property

(Dauphin County, PA) -- The company that's re-developing Harrisburg Mall has asked township commissioners to rezone the property. They want it to be classified as a Light Manufacturing and Industrial District in order to repurpose it for multi-use business space. St. John Properties of Baltimore says, if approved, they'll demolish the mall, except for the Bass Pro Shops store. They'll then develop the space for general and medical offices and light business use. A zoning board hearing to consider the matter has been set for June 14th. The mall remains open for business and no timeline has been announced for when it might close.
