>Wolf, Fetterman Reveal Plan To Pardon Nonviolent Marijuana Convictions

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Tom Wolf and Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman have announced a pardoning project for people with minor marijuana criminal convictions. The one-time, large-scale plan would apply to select non-violent offenders. The application process is free and will be available entirely online. Officials estimate that over 13,000 people who were arrested last year for marijuana could potentially benefit from the effort, in addition to many others in previous years.

(Carlisle, PA) -- A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted homicide in Dauphin County for a drive-by shooting that injured two children. Darrell Henderson-Baylor also faces other multiple charges stemming from the incident August 11th in the 4900 block of Cumberland Street. Police found two injured children in the house that was hit by gunfire. They were taken to the Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center and continue to recover.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A movie about a nurse who admitted killing dozens of patients in the Lehigh Valley and New Jersey is set to be released next month. "The Good Nurse" will debut October 19th in select theaters and will stream on Netflix a week later. Charles Cullen, who pleaded guilty to killing 22 patients, worked in numerous medical facilities between 1993 and his arrest in 2003. He is serving consecutive life sentences.

(State College, PA) -- Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford led a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter to help lift his team to a 35-31 victory over Purdue Thursday night. Clifford went 8-for-15 for 141 yards and two touchdowns in the first half and threw a ten-yard touchdown pass to Keyvone Lee with 57 seconds left for the final push. The season opener was played at Ross-Ade Stadium.

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Tom Wolf is still trying to get two-thousand-dollar checks in the hands of needy Pennsylvanians. He had proposed the program for the first time in February, but it didn't win enough support to pass through budget negotiations this summer. State GOP leadership had argued that the state's couldn't give out federal COVID-relief funds. But now, Wolf said, there is more than enough money in the state's own treasury to fund the $500 million program. It could affect more than 250 thousand state residents.

 (Harrisburg, PA) -- Some Pennsylvania residents will see a new area code come into effect on Friday. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission says residents and businesses in eastern and southeastern Pennsylvania should be aware of the September 2nd activation of the new 835 area code. It will serve the same geographic region as the existing 610 and 484 areas - so no changes in dialing will be necessary. Officials say the new code is needed because the remaining supply of numbers in the current 610/484 area is nearly exhausted.

 >> Nursing Home Workers May Still Strike Friday

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Months after the state approved $600 million for caregiving in nursing homes, thousands of workers say they may still go on strike Friday. Their concerns center around how much of the money will actually go to workers. SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, a union representing nursing home workers, says they reached an agreement with Guardian Healthcare earlier this week and negotiations also are still ongoing with two more nursing home companies, Comprehensive and Priority.

(Harrisburg, PA) --As travelers crowd Harrisburg International and other airports around the country this holiday weekend, the Department of Transportation has launched a new tool to help them know their rights when dealing with the airlines. The new dashboard launched Thursday at transportation dot gov outlines customer service commitments made by carriers for what is known as controllable cancelations and delays. Those include availability of meal vouchers or the coverage of hotel costs when a schedule disruption is the airline's fault.

 >>Many Animals Perish in Barn Fire near Ephrata

(Earl Township, PA) -- Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a blaze that broke out in a dairy barn in Earl Township early Wednesday morning. No people were hurt, but eight cows and five horses died inside. Officials say one cow and one horse were rescued after most of the fire was put out. The dairy barn was located on property in the 200 block of Wanner Road.

>>Man who Allegedly Abducted Reading Girl was Mother's Ex-Boyfriend

(Reading, PA) -- Officials in Berks County say the suspect who abducted a young girl in Reading early Wednesday morning was the mother's ex-boyfriend. The county D.A.'s office says Duane Taylor is accused of kidnapping the 13-year-old from her home near Schuylkill Avenue in the middle of the night. The girl was found 15 hours later in Brooklyn, New York. Taylor has been charged with kidnapping and other related crimes.

>>Lancaster Employer Agrees To Resolve Discrimination Against Asian Applicants

(Lancaster County, PA) -- The U.S. Department of Labor has entered into an agreement with a Lancaster company over its hiring of Asian applicants. The federal department says Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories Environment discriminated against 22 Asian applicants who were not selected for associate scientist positions. An official says Eurofins has cooperated to resolve the matters and to prevent similar issues from happening again.

(Lancaster County, PA) - State lottery officials say someone purchased a million-dollar winning lottery ticket a retailer in Quarryville. The Millionaire Bucks scratch-off ticket, which retails for $20, was sold at the Turkey Hill store at 265 West Street. The store will get a $5,000 bonus for selling it. Scratch-Off prizes expire one year from the game's end-sale date.

(Williamsport, PA) -- Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz has used a campaign stop in Williamsport to attack his Democratic opponent for not debating him. Oz on Tuesday repeatedly called attention to current Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman's alleged absence from campaigning after he suffered a stroke in May. The Oz campaign had reportedly offered to debate Fetterman with comments that they'd pay for additional medical personnel for him, would make sure he had bathroom breaks and provide hearing assistance for him.
