(Undated) -- Hybrid and remote jobs are here to stay in the revamped American workplace. But with it can come an extra set of eyes tracking your performance at home. Dr. Chase Thiel from the University of Wyoming College of Business says there is conflicting research that people are less productive when they're being watched.

An increasing number of companies are monitoring nearly every move made by their employees. A recent New York Times investigation found eight of the 10 largest private employers in the U.S. track productivity metrics of their workers, many of them in real time. In some cases, employers can use that data to issue productivity scores, which can lead to lost wages among other punishments. They say it's a trade off for the flexibility of working from home.
